Dearest reader,
If you’ve had a tough week like me, come here; imagine me holding your hands and taking a deep breath together. We take in as much air as possible and breathe out as much as possible. You’ve weathered the week, so read these words. There are words I wished to receive but I didn’t so I write them for us.
This week might have worn you down, chipped your edges, and whispered doubts in the dead of night. But here, in this shared space, shrug off the dust darling, mend the frayed threads of your cloak, and know you’re not alone. You're resilient, soft, beautiful, admirable, and cherished for facing all the obstacles this week head-on. You made it. And that, darling, is a victory worth celebrating. So come, pull up a chair, and let's sit together as we whisper hope and strength into the new week. This week may have bruised you, but you never stopped blooming. Your light dimmed—but see it now kindling, glowing again. You are loved. I’m proud of you.
On the week
As you can guess from the above, the week was tough, but baby I’m tougher, haha! So in the toughness of the week, I discovered something about me, I am a “Waiter” not the waiter at establishments, the waiter who has mastered the wonderful world of waiting. I have understood the art of finding joy in the anticipation of what’s to come.
There's a certain magic in the process, a beauty in the wait that we sometimes overlook. I realized that I love having things to look forward to. I delight in those pockets of anticipation - waiting for my plant to bloom, waiting for my passport, my next vacation, or even just the batch of grilled fish in the oven. The wait for me is just as sweet as the event itself. I’ve allowed people to make me feel bad for not being anxious or blooming slowly. I am not complacent about life at all, I’m just not “gra-gra,” but I’m dogged.
I am someone who believes in the “Go, I am coming,” statement. Like if you go before me it is fine, if you arrive faster than me, it is fine. Be going, I am coming and truly I arrive just fine and sometimes even better because I pick myself through the whole journey.
But waiting doesn't always feel good. Sometimes it tries our patience or leaves us anxious. As we journey this year, I want to share a few thoughts on how we can best enjoy the wait:
On lessons
As you look ahead, don't forget to look around and challenge yourself to find and savor whatever goodness this moment offers - a morning coffee, laughter with friends, and the sunset.
Embrace mystery. Waiting leaves space for surprise and serendipity. Trust in the unknown, that the outcome will unfold as it should.
Focus on being a human being like the birds in the air, don’t be too pressed on learning, learning, learning, every moment, sometimes just be, you are a “human being” not “human doing.” Sometimes kick your feet and be silly.
Relish the pauses. Understand that with patience, buds always unfold into glorious blooms in their perfect time.
Wait with someone, family, friend or a random stranger as you would for the bus at the bus station but be vigilant.
On other random lessons, I put down in my notes:
We attach too much importance to looks, no card gets you to the top faster than wit, audacity, and brain card.
A smooth internet connection is the lifestream of every remote work.
People’s empathy falls short when you can’t feel it, but that doesn’t make it invalid.
On goals
I got a new WiFi connection, it’s so smooth and refreshing.
I got a virtual dollar card.
I ticked five goals out of my previous week’s goal.
Carrying over finding my urgent $1000 this week.
Get my prescribed glasses.
Exciting job prospects this week
On Music
Beautiful Onyinye by Psquare and Rick Ross: I stumbled on the song and I was surprised I still remember it word for word, haha.
On Movie
Sweet Home: A thriller but almost like a horror movie
Concluding note
Waiting teaches us patience, a virtue often undervalued in our world. Take those moments of anticipation, like waiting for plant seeds to germinate, as an opportunity to slow down. Witnessing the gradual growth and transformation instills a sense of joy and accomplishment that instant gratification can't match.
As you eagerly await the lilies to bloom, appreciate the beauty in the unfolding process. Life, like a flower, has its own pace and rhythm. Allow things to happen naturally, and revel in the anticipation. The wait is not just a pause but a chance to witness the intricate dance of life unfold before your eyes.
So, here's to being a proud waiter! find joy in the in-between and let the anticipation add a sprinkle of magic to your everyday life.
Wishing us a tremendously blessed and smooth week ahead filled with pockets of blessings at every corner.
Warm regards,
Winifred.
