Life is more — Kun Faya Kun
We have solidly navigated strong challenges before so how can we forget that we will pull through anything life brings us now? You’ve done it before and you will again with grace.
Dear Readers,
Listening to my favorite song of all time, “New Normal by Khalid inspired this newsletter. We all reach milestones, find our paths, and yet, a yearning for “more” often lingers. Life, like seasons, has its highs and lows. We may lose touch with what feels or has felt familiar, and the sheer pace of change can be overwhelming.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that life always presents us with the same scenarios, same patterns and gives us chances to tackle them all over again.
You realize that on March 15th, 2023, you wore the same shirt, sat in a coaster bus, and were on a ride to do some business in town with a simple hairstyle. It’s 2024 March 15th, you wear the same shirt, sit on a coaster, and go to town, in a similar hairstyle. I don’t know for others but it always happens to me and I see that life is testing my growth to see how I’ll handle similar situations again. How about men? Life brings you the same man in different bodies all over again until you learn your lesson.
Khalid’s song made me grateful for how slow I take things. I do things at my pace, if my pace is too fast and life wants me to wait a little longer, surrender completely and seek ways to enjoy the wait. I’ve written about us who are “waiters,” before. One thing I didn’t talk about is that most “waiters” don’t celebrate with the same fervor they used to wait for the blessing and it seems like nothing’s happening for them.
I am “team breathe and cry,” any day and time, and welcoming this state has made me evolve to my nature. I won’t do any work with a tense mind. Highest, I turn off the system and sleep for 30 minutes, the world won’t burn because if you drop dead it goes on as simply as if you never existed. So what’s the point when we can’t live a happy life being true to ourselves or our essence?
Khalid's song tells me that adjusting to the new normal, your new stage of life now, and wanting more shouldn’t be seen as stagnant or failure because you’re growing.
On lessons
The song reminds me that:
Change is inevitable. “Summer has its end sometimes,” and clinging to the past holds us back.
Resilience is within you. “You made your bed up / Somewhere in the darkness” speaks to our inner strength. We have solidly navigated strong challenges before so how can we forget that we will pull through anything life brings us now? You’ve done it before and you will again with grace.
Focus on the present. “Living in the moment” allows us to appreciate the journey, not just the destination.
This new normal might not be wholly what I envisioned now, but it's my reality now. In it some things are better, some are far gone, I am better, and I embrace the unknown with a little bit of plan 1 - 4.
I know I don’t control the pages of my story, like how many pages it’ll be at the end of the day. I just got to keep writing because at least I write the chapters by living daily.
I will keep moving forward, one season at a time.
Finally, the song tells me, we’re all together in our shared experience of life.

Life is more than patterns and repetitions. It’s more if you will it. You can say “Be!” and it shall be. Believe and work for it with faith it’ll happen. I love you, have a great weekend!
